I don't know how he feels about me?

I've known this guy for five years who goes to the local nightclub regularly with mates, he's very shy with women, I've never seen him talk, let alone dance with anyone, but I'd noticed him watching me quietly a fair few times, just giving very shy smiles, but a couple of months ago, I plucked the courage up and started small talk with him, and he soon started chatting a lot more, he eventually joined me on the dance floor, and we danced closely, and he suddenly kissed me full on the lips right out the blue, I was stunned but enjoyed it. I only go once a month, but the next time I went I was convinced he would have regretted the impulsive behaviour and stay away, he didn't, and actually asked me to dance, where we stayed most of the evening, and chatting when we had a rest, and the same last time, all these times I've danced with him, he's been clearly , if you know what I mean, but seems terribly shy about it, and gives me the distinct impression he's very inexperienced with women due to his shyness. He's never asked for my number, but last time I asked if he'd be offended if I gave it to him, just in case he wanted contact in between going to the club, but no obligation to use it at all, he said he wasn't offended and took it. I didn't expect him to text at all, but the very next day he did, saying how much he enjoyed the previous night, we've texted briefly each day, but apart from the slight smutty inuendos that we both enjoy purely in jest on occasions, he acts the perfect gentleman, we're both middle-aged, and I'm left wondering what he really thinks. I daren't tell him I'm falling for him big time, as I suffer badly with self-esteem and I'm afraid of rejection, so I'm playing it really cool. He says he looks forward to seeing me again, but I'm so unsure what's going through his head, what he thinks of me, does he even fancy me, or just see me as a mate? When we're not dancing we're snuggled up together, and it feels so 'right' being there, and he looks happy too. I'm teetotal, he drinks very little, so none of this is drink related, can any men shed any light on this please?
