I put a flea in a good workmates ear, was i right to?

i'm a grafter and proud of it the good workmate is a bit of a bluffer and everybody knows it but he is a good fella very down to earth but i know he only got the job because he can be a bit of an as'slick hes a bit of a yes! man thats why he gets away with bluffing. i was getting slaughtered today as usual and i needed a hand carrying a set of stairs. so i asked him for a hand, he grumbled "wha err i'm busy clearing up" and he walked away. i seen red and shouted to the foreman "here i need a hand carrying these stairs you better nominate somebody" as soon as i shouted that he back tracked threw down the bit of wood he was carrying! and rushed to give me a hand. what pissed me off most is me and him and serious run ins with another "worker" on our last site, this fella did absolutely nothing and thought he was special. i slapped him back to reality. now hes starting to think the same way. i dont take crap like that of nobody. was i right to put him in his place?
