Brain activity after an induced coma??

My friend just came out of an induced coma. He was in a pretty bad wreck. He is expected to make a full recovery because he is so young and healthy...but I am questioning his state of being at this moment. He is acting very different. Is this a side effect of the coma they put him in or could he possibly have some brain damage?? ....or what I'm trying to ask is..is it normal to act odd after coming out of an induced coma. He fought with the doctors and even tried jumping out of his hospital bed.
